About Taejongdae Park

A natural recreation area in Busan, Taejongdae Park lies on the tip of Yeongdo-gu island. Populated by thick pine forests and craggy cliffs, the park is best known for its rocky windswept beach. A picturesque lighthouse offers a cliff-top viewing platform for magnificent views of Tsushima Island and the coastline.

At least 200 species of trees in the park create an ideal hiking experience. Named for King Taejong Muyeol of the Silla Kingdom, the park carries legends of gods and goddesses who lounged on Sinseon Rock beneath the lighthouse. Marvel at the famous statue of Mangbuseok, which depicts a woman who long awaited the return of her husband from sea.

Head down to the beach to sample fresh clams, mussels and sea cucumbers dished out from small clam tents on the sand. You can take a boat cruise past Achi Island, also known as Camellia Island for its abundant flowering camellia trees.

Getting there

You can reach Taejongdae in less than an hour from Busan or Nampo-dong subway stations. Public buses deposit visitors about five-minutes’ walk away. You can hire a private guide or ride the Danubi Train, which stops at five tourist spots within the park.
