About Zygi

Located between Larnaca and Limassol, Zygi is a charming seaside village on the south coast of Cyprus. It centres around an attractive fishing harbour and a small strip of sand while it’s also a stone’s throw from the UNESCO World Heritage-listed archaeological site of Choirokoitia.

For a refreshing swim in the Mediterranean Sea, head to Zygi Public Beach, which stretches east of the Zygi Marina. There are plenty of seafood restaurants where you can dine throughout the day, including the Karaoli Sea and Captain’s Table Fish Tavern. In the heart of Zygi is the stone-built Church of Agios Kyriakos.

Zygi makes an excellent base for visiting the Neolithic settlement of Choirokoitia, which occupies a sloping hill in the valley of the Maroni River. It is one of the best-preserved prehistoric sites in the eastern Mediterranean region. Among its ruins are several reconstructed, cylindrical-shaped dwellings filled with replicas of ancient household objects.

Getting there

Zygi is around a 30-minute drive from Larnaca and Larnaca International Airport, which has flights to destinations across Europe and the Middle East. Buses connect to Zygi and the village is small enough to explore on foot.
