About Wells, England

Wells Cathedral soars over the town centre and is set in one of the largest closes in England. Construction started in the 1100s and spanned for several centuries. Bishop's Palace & Gardens is surrounded by a water-filled moat and recalls the town’s ancient past. Stroll around the sprawling five-hectare gardens and enjoy tea and cake at the atmospheric café overlooking the emerald-green croquet lawns.

The twice-weekly market held on Wednesdays and Saturdays is a great place to stock up on everything from baked goods and organic produce to handmade arts and crafts. It’s held in Market Square and is a hive of activity, with people travelling from across Somerset to attend.
