Located on the north-west coast of Cyprus, Pomos is a popular beach getaway and one of the most remote settlements on the island. It is famed for the discovery of a prehistoric stone sculpture dating from the 30th century BC that is believed to have been used as a fertility symbol.
Spend your days relaxing on the sands of Pomos Municipal Beach or head to the small cove of Tpoulorotsos Beach. A spectacular walking trail leads from the neighbouring village of Nea Dimmata to the Pomos Cape, with steep, pine-covered cliffs descending to the waters of the Mediterranean Sea.
A short drive inland from Pomos will take you to the Panagia Chrysopateritissa Church, a 16th-century church that once formed part of a stone-built monastery. It is located on the southern edge of the scenic Pomos Dam, which was constructed in 1966 to irrigate the surrounding vegetable fields.
Getting there
Pomos is just over an hour’s drive from Paphos and Paphos International Airport while Limassol is 1.5 hours away. Having your own vehicle is the most convenient way of accessing Pomos and the village is compact enough to explore on foot.
