About Myrina

Hugging the west coast of Lemnos Island, Myrina is a bustling capital and port with ancient origins. It extends around two sparkling bays that are divided by the impressive ruins of a Venetian castle. With its stone-paved streets and Neoclassical residences, Myrina makes a picturesque base for exploring the beautiful beaches and archaeological sites of Lemnos.

Things to do in Myrina

Built atop a rocky peninsula overlooking the port of Myrina is the town’s Byzantine castle, which was reconstructed by the Venetians in the 13th century. Learn about its associations with the Ottomans and Germans as you explore its battlements and tunnels before soaking up the spectacular views across the Aegean Sea. The Myrina Castle is a particularly popular destination for watching the sunset.

Occupying a Neoclassical mansion in Myrina is the Archeological Museum of Lemnos, which exhibits findings from the ancient sites of Poliochni, Kavirio and Ifestia.
