About Jurong East

Jurong East sparkles green, its trees, lawns and parks the lungs of western Singapore. Built in the 1970s as a leisure and residential district, the pace of life here is slower than in other parts of the city.

Things to do in Jurong East

Modelled on Chinese imperial gardens, Jurong East’s Chinese Garden blends classical architecture with the surrounding natural environment. Stone lions guard the garden’s gates and bridges, while the Bai Hong Qiao bridge is a copy, albeit in miniature, of one in the Summer Palace in Beijing. Those interested in the city’s culture can check out the Live Turtle and Tortoise Museum and the bonsai garden and traditional tea house.

A family-friendly attraction, the Science Centre Singapore is split between several sites in Jurong East. Visit the observatory and join one of the stargazing sessions held every Friday night. Here you can step from the tropical outdoor climate into Snow City, which has an artificial sub-freezing climate and a three storey ski slope. There is also an IMAX Dome cinema and eight different galleries covering all aspects of science and technology.

Jurong East’s residents spend a lot of time outside, promenading around the reservoir and hanging out in the parks. Jurong Lake Park and Pandan Gardens Leisure Park are particular favourites.
