About Crestview

Located at one of the highest points in Florida, Crestview was established along a line of the Pensacola and Atlantic Railroad Company in the late 19th century. It is notable for receiving the second-highest rainfall in the state while it’s also within easy access to the idyllic beaches of the Gulf of Mexico.

Things to do in Crestview

On the southern edge of Crestview is the Carver-Hill Museum, which occupies a former African-American school that was opened in 1915. It was named after George Washington Carver and Reverend Edward Hill, who played a pivotal role in ensuring there were well-funded schools for African-American children. In addition to showcasing Crestville’s black history, the museum regularly hosts community events.

Travelling with kids? They can let loose in the playground of Twin Hills Park, a lakeside green space that sprawls across eight hectares. You can take advantage of the tennis, basketball and volleyball courts or stretch your legs on one of the walking trails before cooking up a feast on the barbecue grills. In the summer months, the little ones can cool off at the splash pad.

From Crestview, it’s an easy day trip to Henderson Beach State Park, which hugs the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Spend a day relaxing on the white sands, cast a fishing line to see what’s biting or explore the fringing dunes along one of the nature trails. Henderson Beach State Park is also a popular spot for meeting local wildlife, such as playful dolphins and sea turtles.
