Situated along the Cotai Strip on the Chinese island of Macau, the City of Dreams is a mega resort and casino with around 1,400 rooms and suites. It has been designed with four towers, two of which are used by the Grand Hyatt Macau, and one each by the Hard Rock Hotel and Crown Towers Hotel.
Set amidst the Portuguese and Chinese heritage of the Macau Special Administrative Region, the City of Dreams offers luxury accommodation and an endless array of leisure activities. The casino boasts 450 gaming tables and more than 1,500 gaming machines set over 128,000 square metres. There are more than 20 different bars and international restaurants to choose from, together with numerous high-end designer boutiques along the City of Dreams’ two-level "Boulevard", as well as two theatres. One of these is the "House of Dancing Water" which is home to one of the largest pools in the world and presents an incredible show that incorporates fire, water and atmospheric effects. Other attractions at the City of Dreams include the four video walls of the Vquarium where oceanic scenes and larger-than-life mermaids appear, together with the Bubble Fountain sphere which mesmerisingly cascades into a pool below.
Macau can be accessed by plane or ferry, with the City of Dreams located just a short taxi ride away from both the airport and ferry terminal. The Cotai Strip is easily explored on foot, with plenty of dazzling attractions and shows in the nearby resort and casino complexes.
The City of Dreams initially opened in 2009, having been built by Melco Crown Entertainment opposite The Venetian Macao. The Cotai Strip on which it was built is a relatively new tourism and gaming development, established on an area of reclaimed land between Macau’s Taipa and Coloane islands.
