About Åsgårdstrand

Asgardstrand is a tiny port town that’s been attracting holidaymakers since the 1920s. The town is charming and colourful, with brightly-painted clapboard houses surrounded by white picket fences. You’ll love strolling along the cobblestone streets, stopping to admire the flower-filled gardens. Cosy cafes, artisan bakeries and locally owned boutiques give Asgardstrand a lively and upbeat atmosphere.

Artists have been flocking to Asgardstrand for more than 100 years. Today the town is dotted with independent galleries and studios where you can admire works by local artists. The former home of Edvard Munch, the iconic Norwegian who painted “The Scream”, has been reimagined as a local history museum.

Warm summers and plenty of sunshine give Asgardstrand a Mediterranean feel. Bask on the sandy beach, cool off in the crystal-clear water and enjoy a picnic on the grassy foreshore. Every year, the harbour fills up with yachts and motorboats.
