Comfortable, Overpriced, Ritzy, Rundown and Disappointing.

This hotel would have been five star 40 years ago. The public areas and dining is still high class and expensive - worth the money if that's what you want. These people spend their money maintaining high quality staff and facilities but cut corners. The parking is open air and limited - get in early! The rooms are dated and, compared to modern motels poorly designed. They haven't been upgraded in a long time and are pretty run down. The bathroom included a bath with a shower curtain. The vinyl floor has been poorly finished. For the price we paid, I was disappointed and expected better. The bed, however, is exceptionally good! The view from our room is awesome as it would have been from any room in any motel in that area. There was a large verandah outside our room that is just bare concrete has not been upgraded in 40 years. The metal table and two chairs look original. The staff are well trained and very helpful. Of all the places we stayed in NZ, this was the most expensive and gave us the least for our money.

room over looking lake as stated in booking page more like over looking car park with glimpse of lake if I had known where the room was going to be I would have gone somewhere else the entry to the bathroom is uneven the carpet at one end of the door is flush but the other end is below the tiles causing my wife to stub her toe on the tile very painful
