Like the rest of the Algarve, Sagres is blessed with gorgeous beaches. Praia da Mareta is one of the most popular and features a long strip of golden sand, with plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants within walking distance. Sheltered Praia da Baleeira is a great option for windy days while uncrowded Praia do Martinhal is favoured by locals. Rolling waves make Praia do Tonel a top pick for surfers.

Birders flock to Sagres to spot white storks nesting in the rugged cliff faces that surround the village. It’s one of the only places in the world where you can see the spectacle. Sagres is also a haven for rare birds like spotted eagles and red-footed falcons.
