Delve into the Roman heritage of Cirencester at the Corinium Museum, which exhibits an extensive collection of items uncovered at the Roman town of Corinium Dobunnorum. Admire the 4th-century mosaic floors and Roman carvings, together with Neolithic artefacts and a number of significant Victorian pieces.
Spend an afternoon wandering through the parklands of Abbey Grounds where an Augustinian monastery was established in the 12th century. Explore the remains of the Roman wall that once ringed the town, cast a line in the fishing lake and let the kids run loose in the children’s playground.
Admire the striking architecture of the “Cathedral of the Cotswolds” at the Parish Church of St. John the Baptist. It’s noted for its perpendicular Gothic porch and merchants' tombs, as well as its soaring 15th-century tower that’s supported by large buttresses.

Getting around Cirencester
Bristol Airport is located just over one hour’s drive from Cirencester, which is two hours from London. The town is also connected by buses to surrounding cities. Cirencester is compact enough to explore on foot, with the Market Place largely pedestrianised.
