About Bardufoss

Comprised of three villages (Andselv, Andslimoen and Heggelia), Bardufoss lies in the picturesque Målselvdalen valley. It’s located near the junction of the Målselva and Barduelva rivers and offers access to several large lakes and waterfalls.

A short drive east of Bardufoss is the 19th-century Målselv Bygdemuseum, an old farmstead where antique furniture and tools are displayed. It was constructed using materials from the Målselv region and offers insight into life for local residents more than 100 years ago. It can easily be combined with a visit to the photogenic Bardufossen waterfall, which tumbles along the Barduelva River nearby.

You can also explore Andsvatnet, a sprawling lake that provides a source of drinking water for much of the municipality. Stretch your legs on the lakeside trail or cast a line to see what’s biting, with Arctic char and brown trout regularly caught here.

Getting there

Bardufoss is just under two hours’ drive from Tromsø and five minutes from Bardufoss Airport, which has regular flights to Oslo. Having your own vehicle is the most convenient way of getting to Bardufoss and exploring the region.
