About Nantun District

An affluent urban neighbourhood in Taiwan, Nantun District boasts a cultural community of artists and intellectuals. Home to a renowned Taiwanese market in Old Nantun, traditional craftsmanship sits in the midst of modernised residences, department stores and nightlife in bordering districts.

Things to do in Nantun District

Ling Tung University gives rise to local Nantun traditions, such as making offerings to the God of Literature at Wenchang Temple. The university is also home to Ling Tung Numismatic Museum, an extensive collection of ancient Chinese coins and currency, as well as silver ingots and bars from preceding dynasties.

Want to experience the quirky and colourful side of Nantun District? Stroll through Rainbow Village, a vibrantly hued former military housing complex now covered in expressive wall art and drawings by “Grandpa Huang”. The paintings are today considered masterpieces of Taiwanese folk art.
